I offer a casual yet methodical learning experience that is based on setting and reaching short-term goals yet allows room for creativity along the way. My students are encouraged to learn to read music because it’s easy, fun and opens the door to playing all kinds of music.
Drawing from traditional classical training and modern teaching methods, I provide my students the opportunity to learn the most efficient techniques along with basic music theory so that songs can be practiced, memorized and played more easily.
For students with more ambitious goals (who want to play in a band or audition for music school) we will focus on developing the skills required for success as a performer. All my students are given the opportunity to participate in public performances/recitals to showcase their hard work!
Music enhances one's capacity to learn, provides emotional release and nourishes the soul. Playing music strengthens concentration, memory and attention to detail. Most importantly, music is its own reward!
Introducing children and adults to music is something I really enjoy. All of my students gain a solid foundation in technique, music theory and performance skills so that they are well-prepared for whatever musical path they choose. I also encourage all of my students to develop their innate creativity through improvisation.
My performance experience includes rock, classical, jazz and 'world music' in bands and as a solo guitar player. I graduated from UMBC in 2013 with a B.S. cum laude in Music/Guitar Performance (Classical Guitar) where I studied guitar with Fulbright Scholar Dr. Zane Forshee and Dr. Serap Gray (Peabody Conservatory). I have also had the honor to have studied bass with Keter Betts (bassist for Ella Fitzgerald) and NEA grant recipient Ashton Fletcher, I continue to study and participate in workshops/master classes with various artists such as Al DiMeola, Zakir Hussein and Jason Vieaux. I have two cats and live in the country.
Paul has been my guitar teacher for about 3 years. As my skills have grown, he has changed his approach to match and keep me challenged. He has been exactly the teacher I needed when I needed him to be it. He has deep skills and deep knowledge to match. Oh, and boy is he patient.

Our family has had the pleasure of working with Paul since early 2014. My older son started guitar lessons at age 8 and then my younger son began ukulele lessons at age 6. Both enjoy working with Paul and look forward to their lessons every week which is more than I can ask from little children who were just starting their introduction to

We found Paul to be very knowledgeable and a good motivator. I would highly recommend Paul as a music instructor.

I first met Paul when I was looking for an instructor that focused on Classical Guitar. He has taught me fingerpicking, rhythm and how to read music with efficient right-hand and left-hand fingerings. However, Paul is not just limited to Classical music. He is also very knowledgeable with other styles such as Rock, Jazz, Blues and Count
I first met Paul when I was looking for an instructor that focused on Classical Guitar. He is also very knowledgeable with other styles such as Rock, Jazz, Blues and Country. Paul works well with students at any skill level - be it learning rhythm guitar or how to become a solo/lead guitarist - he can always find ways to improve your technique and tone. Paul’s approach to teaching is very flexible. He teaches at the student’s own pace and provides structure by using instructional books yet allows you to work towards personal goals with songs that may interest you more to keep motivation high. In addition to 'hands on' instruction, Paul also teaches music theory and provides many opportunities to perform in front of audiences to help you overcome any performance anxiety. I have now been with Paul for 5+ years and still have the same enthusiasm for learning guitar as I did when I started!
